Recipe Series: Raw Halva – Persian Superfood Dessert

Raw Halva (Halva Sa’atwo) is a favorite dessert of mine, which is made of raw superfoods. It’s a healthy dessert or snack that is good for energy and stamina. It’s perfect after a vigorous workout or on the days that you need wings but don’t want the added sugar or caffeine.

Vegan raw Persian dessert
Traditionally, Persian Halva is made of flour and butter, mixed with a syrup of sugar, saffron, rosewater, and cardamom heated in a saucepan. However, each region has its own version. In the southern city of Kerman, halva is made with raw ingredients and no added sugar.

This my grandmother’s recipe, which is quick and easy since no cooking is involved. It has four main ingredients that have to proportional in size: Tahini for protein and boost of energyDates for staminaRice provides fast and instant energy; and Almonds for high-quality protein. Sometimes, I add maca and ashwagandha powders to it.
