How My Life Has Changed Since Coronavirus Quarantine
I hope everybody is staying healthy both mentally and physically during all of the uncertainty. I know everybody is being affected by COVID-19 in some way. Our lives have changed due to this pandemic. So, I wanted to share with you How My Life Has Changed Since Coronavirus Quarantine and lessons that I have learned.
How My Life Has Changed Since Coronavirus Quarantine
Since I’m an essential worker, my life in quarantine has been different from everyone else who is staying at home to keep us safe. There are emotions that you experience only if you’re working in office environment during quarantine. Since more restrictions are being lifted and more people are returning to office life, I wanted to share with how my life and emotions have changed since quarantine.
Gratitude & Journaling
During the earliest stages of quarantine, I was overwhelmed with fear since I was at work surrounded by people. It is next to impossible to socially distance yourself at a small office with narrow hallways. But I couldn’t let fear rule me so I turned to mental fitness.
One of the ways my life has changed is I practice gratitude and journaling (see above post) daily to overcome anxiety and fear. I was always grateful but now I have made my gratitude practice a daily habit, which I start in the morning and practice it throughout the day. Because of my daily gratitude practice, I don’t have anxiety attacks or feel overwhelmed as much as I did at the beginning of this. Mental fitness has become as important as my physical fitness. For more on this practice, check out this blog post.
These reminders when I feel overwhelmed
I remember the families like my friends who have been directly affected by this pandemic and lost a love one. I send a lot of love and prayers their way.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and anxious as more restrictions are being lifted and more businesses are opening, read my thoughts on it in the above post.
I don’t look back. I have accepted that we can’t can go back to the way things were anytime soon! Instead I focus on moving forward (read the comments of the above post for my audience’s thought on this).
Prepared
Pre-caution is my middle name. I make sure to pack my COVID-19 Essential Items Bag every day before I come into the office. You see, I have never been this organized. I packed wipes to clean my workstation, gloves to open doors and handles, paper towels, hand sanitizer to disinfect my hands every couple of hours, antibacterial soap to wash hands frequently especially before eating food and an extra pair of a face mask.
Another way my life has changed is I don’t leave anything until the last minute. Coronavirus experience taught me you never know what’s going to happen next and how it will impact you. As soon as I have an idea, I jump on it. As soon as I need to do something, I’m on it.
Friendship
I learned to make more time for friends especially those long-distance. I reached out to friends who live long distance and we hadn’t chat in a while. Zoom brought us together. We have set up a book club so we can make it a habit to stay in touch. The book club is also a great distraction from what’s going on. It also makes me feel I’m taking part in something social. We are reading Big Little Lies now.
