Selfcare vs Self Love

Did you know selfcare and self-love aren’t the same? ⁣It wasn’t until I listen to a podcast about self-love that I start distinguishing the difference between self-care and self-love. I think most of us confuse the two. That podcast episode made me realize why I always experience guilt around self-care and that’s why I’m still stressed after practicing self-care. This complete selfcare routine will not work until you learn self-love.

01. How to Reduce Stress and Sleep Better: Gratitude Journal

Every night before bed, I take a few minutes to journal what I’m grateful for that day. Practicing gratitude is relaxing. So is journaling. Both will reduce stress and clear your mind for better sleep. It makes you feel aware of all the good things in your life and you end your day on a positive note.

02. How to Reduce Stress and Sleep Better: Face Yoga

Face yoga is a great selfcare routine practice to reduce stress and sleep better. Face yoga does for your face what flow yoga does for your body. It relaxes your facial muscles before heading to bed. Face yoga helps reduce jaw clenching and reduce any stress built up in your face throughout the day. This will help you sleep better.

03. How to Reduce Stress and Sleep Better: Breathwork

I love Breathwork since it erases all of the ongoing self-dialogue in my head and negative thoughts in a few minutes. Breathwork will help you process emotions and gain clarity, which will reduce stress and anxiety. Since Breathwork helps your mind relax, you will sleep better.

Epsom Salt Hot Bath could be the key to sleep better. The salt bath contains magnesium, which is the best mineral for better sleep.

I listen to guided meditation or meditation when I get into bed. It feels me fall asleep faster. Meditation can break the train of your everyday thoughts so you can destress and sleep better.

I was surprised to see how many of you in my community are also emotional eaters. I think the biggest struggle of emotional eating imho is that you don’t even notice how much you’re eating. I once binge ate a box of salami without even realizing cuz I thought I had failed an exam. ⁣

The best tip I can give you is instead of focusing on emotional eating, focus on the emotions and know they’re temporary. That’s what I remind myself. ⁣

We collectively have difficult memories of this pa We collectively have difficult memories of this past year. But we can still leave 2020 with a sweet note by concentrating on all the good things (no matter how small) happened this year! 🥳⁣

I know I stressed out a lot by worrying  about the health of my family and friends. I felt truly isolated because of social distancing. But, I also miraculously found a job after being unemployed for what felt like a decade + my mom TG is (slowly) recovering from two minor surgeries (which could have been worse if not diagnosed right away)! I also had the support of my IG community when I felt lonely or bored (so thank you guys 💋)⁣
