Top 5 Amazing Ideas to Celebrate Mother’s Day Virtually

01. Virtual Mother’s Day from Home

Schedule an online Mother’s Day call with loved ones. Send out a Paperless Post e-vite or even group text invite to your mom with friends, family, and siblings. Include the information for a prearranged Zoom, FaceTime or HouseParty (group video chatting).

Get creative with a backdrop. Ask your guests to create a personal backdrop or card or virtual backdrop downloadable online. LA Photo Party has some super fun ones available to download online.

Toast the Hostess. Send a bottle of your Mother’s favorite to all invites (whether that be a special herbal tea, lemonade mix, soda, or rosé bubbly). Open the call with a toast… cheers!

02. Virtual Mother’s Day Brunch

Gathering for a traditional Mother’s Day brunch may be of the question. So plan ahead for a virtual meal you can share together:

One fun, interactive option is to ask each guest to make their favorite dish or one of mom’s favorite dishes. Present it BYO-style, and have each family member show off their contribution. Looking for easier planning? Go with fabulous caterers like Wolfgang Puck Catering and Annie Campbell Catering. These caterers both offer no contact meal drop-offs. Another option is to send food from her favorite restaurant delivered straight to her door via Postmates, GrubHub, or UberEats… so simple! You can even order your mom’s favorite dessert online and send it to the participants.

03. Share Favorite Memories is one of the most creative Mother’s Day Ideas to Celebrate Virtually

Looking back is a great way to feel connected!

  • Old letters or photos can go a long way when virtually celebrating Mother’s Day
  • Have a loot by pulling out old camp letters or college correspondences between you and your mom
  • Have each guest choose their favorite photo of your mom, then share the story behind it
  • Gather photos of your mom and place them in the background of your Zoom call
  • Put together a photo montage of your favorite pics on your iPhone and present it to her on Mother’s Day

04. Gift Locally

Now, more than ever, local businesses need our support. A gift card to your mom’s favorite restaurant, local boutique, or spa for when restrictions are lifted are a thoughtful gift that will both gives back to your community and make your mom feel loved! Call your local florist and see if they are doing curbside pickups or deliveries, as well!

05. Keep it Short and Sweet by Planning Ahead

If you are planning on a digital party, plan the call for about an hour, so that your guests know what to expect. If your mom or grandmother is a bit older, you may want to walk them through the electronic technicalities with a rehearsal Zoom/FaceTime/House Party call. That way, they’ll know the drill — plus, nothing makes a mother happier than seeing her family’s smiling faces!
