What You Should Know About Infrared Sauna

Infrared saunas and cryotherapy are the newest wellness ways to detox and lose weight. It is a type of sauna that uses heat and infrared light to help detoxify the body. Cryotherapy is a treatment that involves the use of freezing temperatures to detoxify the body. If you are opposed to the cold like I am, infrared sauna since it’s heated. Infrared saunas use wavelength light to create heat so you can get your sweat on to detox. The benefits are detoxification, stimulation of collagen, better sleep, reduction of pain, anxiety, and stress. Although, I’m not sure if it is back by science.

SaunaBar

SaunaBar is located in Brentwood Gardens, which is surrounded by tons of great restaurants in case you work up an appetite after the services. There’s plenty of parking too, which so unusual for LA. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly, it is a very clean spa.
I tried the Lymphatic Massage + SaunaPod Combo service. I started off with the lymphatic massage, which is a compression suit that wakes up the lymphatic system and kickstarts the detoxification process before the SaunaPod. The lymphatic massage lasts 25 minutes. I was sprayed with aromatherapy (I choose lavender) and given an eye pillow to relax. It was an interesting experience.
Then I was off to the SaunaPod. I was surprised how relaxing this portion was since I’m slightly claustrophobic. The SaunaPod is like a bed lined with 440 jade stones. My head was out of the pod breathing fresh air. I was able to adjust the heat at any time. The SaunaPod is for 45 minutes (great time to catch up on your favorite podcast or to meditate). The first 10 minutes is just relaxing. After that, that’s when the detoxication kicked in.
For both services, I wore leggings and a tee-shirt. Socks are required for all services. Even though you’re face is not in the pod sweating, I highly suggest taking your makeup off before the services so your skin can breathe.
