5 Essential Job Hunting Tips During COVID-19, a blog post by Liz in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Lifestyle Blogger: an image of a resume and glasses

It’s a challenging time for all of us. So many people are unemployed and so many people are on furlough. As I write this, it’s been 30 days since the shutdown and we can only back to normal gradually. If you are looking for a job during this pandemic, it can be challenging. It can also be a great way to reassess things and start fresh. I wanted to share with you 5 Essential Job Hunting Tips During COVID-19. Hopefully, these tips will help you while you are searching for a job.

One of the biggest job hunting tips I can give you is think virtual.

5 Essential Job Hunting Tips During COVID-19

01. START WITH YOUR DREAMS & SUPERPOWERS

Before you update your resume take some time to figure out if you’re career goals are in line with your dreams. Is your career still what you are passionate about or is it just familiar territory? Assess your greatest skills, your big achievements, pinpoint your superpowers. Based on these, apply to jobs. Don’t apply to the same job title because you just used to it! Right now is a great time to reinvent yourself.

02. UPDATE YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE

LinkedIn is a powerful platform to be discovered on as well as to network. There are so many new features on this platform and more things you can do with your profile these days. Make sure to update your profile, add new connections to start networking for a new job, ask for recommendations and add your skill levels. You can search for new jobs while asking for an introduction from your connections.

03. CREATE A VIRTUAL RESUME ON A PERSONAL WEBSITE

This is an incredible way to increase your chances of getting hired. Everything is virtual now. Everything is moving online even resumes. A personal website communicates so much more about yourself, beyond what’s on your resume. It personalizes your profile.

04. CREATE CONTENT – The Most Important Job Hunting Tips

Start creating content on social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Pinterest. Every and any social media platform. Get your message across. If you are an account start sharing accounting tips. If you are a doctor or nurse, share health tips on Twitter. And if you are a financial advisor, share financial tips on TikTok. When you start creating content and sharing it on these platforms, you become a resource and that will get the attention of either clients or employers. More on creating content here.

It’s also time to take down those party photos when you start sharing your knowledge. You should still share your creative side or snippets of things that inspire your work or life. Click here for tips.

05. PREP FOR VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS

Given the impact of COVID-19 and the current calls for social distancing, it’s likely your next interview could be a video interview. Make sure you’re ready to get in front of the camera. Get know every aspect of Zoom since most likely that’s where your next interview is happening.

Now your resume and personal profiles are complete, start applying to your dream job. Best of luck.

This week’s check in: ⁣ ⁣ I 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 like I’m slowly accepting my current situation although the daily mini panic are still there. ⁣ ⁣ I 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 to focus on Faith over Fear.⁣ ⁣ I 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 myself for skipping workouts pretty much most of the week. Next week, I’ll be better. ⁣ ⁣ I 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 the health and wellness of myself, my family & those around me (virtually). ⁣ ⁣ I 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 all the anxiety of ‘what-if’ and ‘am I prepared’. ⁣ ⁣ I 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 we will survive this & everything will be OK. ⁣ ⁣ #21buttons #fridayfeeling #weekendvibes #quarantine #quarantinelife #stayhealthy #staysafe #stayfabulous #socialdistancing #strongertogether #strongerthanyouthink
