Blogging mistakes is easy to make as a new blogger. So, this is a blogging tips guide for new bloggers to avoid these big blogging mistakes. If you are starting a blog today or have been blogging for a while, you will want to check this guide for new bloggers to make sure you’re not making these 5 Biggest Blogging Mistakes to Avoid that New Bloggers Make.

When I started blogging, I just jumped and I made these mistakes. I hope this guide will help new bloggers not make these mistakes that cost time and money. You will want to make you are not making these biggest blogging mistakes before you monetize your social media presence. You will also want to invest in top WordPress plugins for your blog and apps to stay organized as a blogger.

5 Biggest Blogging Mistakes to Avoid that New Bloggers Make

01. YOU ARE NOT ON A SELF-HOSTED PLATFORM

Your blog is not on a platform that allows you to monetize it. Most new bloggers make the mistake of choosing a blog platform that is easy to format. But you can only monetize your blog on a self-hosted platform like WordPress.org. Originally, I set up my blog on WordPress.com but when I wanted to monetize my blog, I couldn’t do that on WordPress.com. I had to switch from WordPress.org and it was costly. WordPress.org allows you to monetize your blog plus it has more plugins to add features to grow your blog.

Avoid this one of the biggest blogging mistakes, which can cost you money. In order to set your blog on WordPress.org, you will need a web hosting company. I use Siteground and it’s pretty affordable.

Sign up for Siteground.

02. YOU’RE NOT PRIORITIZING SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It helps increase the visibility of your blog on Google. SEO is so important when it comes to blogging but it can feel like you’re trying to understand another language!  Most bloggers tend to ignore it, which is one of the biggest blogging mistakes.

But you need take advantage of Yoast SEO. The free version of Yoast only allows you to optimize one keyword. The Yoast SEO Premium allows you to optimize for keywords, keyphrases, synonyms, and related keywords.

If you need help with your blog’s SEO, comment below and I will provide you with the contact information for my SEO Consultant.

03. YOU DON’T HAVE A FREEBIE

This is one of the biggest blogging mistakes that will cost you, subscribers. Freebies are free content that your target audience will love so much, they are willing to hand over their email in order to receive.  If you want to grow your blog, growing your email list should be your number one priority.

04. YOU’RE NOT UTILIZING PINTEREST

Pinterest is not another social media platform. It’s a search engine. Pinterest searches are up 60%, which means it’s the best way to drive traffic to your blog. By using Pinterest, you get more eyes on your pins to drive traffic to your blog. I use Tailwind to pin 20-30 blog posts.

Tailwind is the smartest way to grow your presence on Pinterest. It is an official partner of Pinterest. You can automatically schedule up to 30 pins per day. You can join Tribes to re-pin your pins.

Get $15 when you sign up for Tailwind, it’s a win-win!

*****

Also, Tasty Pins is a WordPress plugin that helps you optimize your blog’s images for Pinterest and SEO. You can add extra (hidden) images for your blog posts with Pinterest description and hashtags. It’s a great way to create images tailored for Pinterest and pin it directly from the blog post by using Tailwind.

05. YOU THINK MAILCHIMP IS THE ONLY OPTION

New bloggers make a mistake of thinking Mailchimp is the only email marketing tool. It is used by everyone because they think it’s free. But it can be costly when you want to create a stylish template or make any changes. The free newsletter templates are dull and boring.

Your solution is Flodesk. It is my secret weapon for email marketing. This email marketing tool designs very stylish, easy to use (just drag and drop), the pop-ups are beautiful and you can make the changes yourself instead of paying a web designer to make changes for you. The Flodesk email marketing designs are sleek and the email newsletter looks more eye-catching than anything you can design on Mailchimp.

Sign up for Flodesk subscription with this link to get 50% off Flodesk subscription.
