What is a Wellness Coach? Top 5 Benefits of Hiring a Wellness Coach
It’s no secret I’m passionate about wellness. Living in Los Angeles, I’m surrounded by wellness trends and so used to hearing the term “wellness coach”. But what does it mean? and what are the benefits of hiring a wellness coach?
What is a Wellness Coach?
A wellness coach helps you not only assess your current physical but mental state so you can achieve your overall wellness and health goals.
A nutritionist or a dietician will coach clients about food and the impact of dietary change. A personal trainer will coach clients on fitness strength. But a wellness coach will coach clients on food, best fitness routines, wellness tools, and trends in order to help them reach their overall wellness goals. Those wellness and health goals can range from lowering stress, curving your appetite by adding apple cider vinegar to your diet to how to reboot your gut health. A wellness coach will help determine which foods are best for your body, handpicks recipes for you based on those suggestions, and educates you on self-care. According to this study, clients had a 25% decrease in reported medical conditions after 5 wellness coaching sessions.
They CAN NOT diagnose or cure any conditions, write prescriptions or guarantee success.
Top 5 Benefits of Hiring a Wellness Coach
01. A PARTNER IN YOUR SUCCESS
You and the coach will be partners in your success. It’s like having a workout buddy. If you know someone is waiting for you, you are more likely to show and wouldn’t slack off. You will have someone that will push you the extra mile. For example, if you know you have to report back to someone if you cut out dairy products, you are going to be more diligent about doing it.
02. HANDING OVER YOUR CREDIT CARD MEANS EXTRA MOTIVATION
When you invest in a wellness coach, you will have an added motivation to kick your butt into gear to implement the coach’s strategies. You will want to make the cost is worth it by pay attention and using everything you learn.
03. IT GETS YOU OUT OF YOUR OWN HEAD
Sometimes you fool yourself into thinking you are on the right path. However, you are not! So, hearing the feedback of a wellness coach will bring you back to reality. A lot of times, you self-diagnose yourself and say we have a gluten or dairy allergy or have insomnia. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the case. A coach has the expertise to figure if you truly do have those conditions.
04. MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
A wellness coach is NOT a therapist but will provide you emotional support so you don’t have to heavily rely upon your personal support network (family, friends, and coworkers). Your personal support might be suffering from the same conditions as you. For example, if you are super stressed, most likey those around you are too. So, they will not be able to guide to a solution. However, a wellness coach will be able to recommend self-care like facial acupuncture and relaxation tactics to help balance out stress.
05. THEY KNOW ABOUT ALL THE LATEST TRENDS
A wellness coach will know the latest wellness trends like what adaptogens are and which ones benefit your health goals! So, you wouldn’t blindly follow wellness trends if they are not suited for you.
